GNC

The Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver guidance, navigation, and control subsystems for orbiter and lander missions

  • Derive and validate subsystem requirements and constraints

  • Implement 6 DoF system simulation, including simulating control dynamics

  • Design mission trajectories and conduct dispersion analysis

  • Trade studies to inform architecture decisions, including driving decisions on component and vendor selections

  • Write flight GNC software for orbiter and lander missions

  • Guide hardware-in-the-loop test setup development and integrate with 6 DoF simulation code

  • Write and execute system test plans

  • Technical management of GNC subsystem vendors

  • Managing/maintaining GNC architecture documentation and budgets

The Must-Haves:

  • 5+ years of experience in spacecraft guidance, navigation, and control

  • Experience working on space missions including a propulsion component

  • Experience simulating space systems, including control systems

  • Experience writing flight GNC software

  • Performing mission-level monte carlo analyses (prop residuals, correction burns, etc)

  • Ability to work independently and creatively

  • Motivated to solve complex problems with extreme constraints in creative ways

Electrical Engineering - Avionics Design

The Responsibilities:

  • Design of power and data handling subsystems for a series of small spacecraft

    • System-level analysis and design, through detailed board design, test planning, and bring-up/debug

  • Derive requirements and test plans at the component and sub-assembly level, and validate reliable operation and proper performance of said tests.

  • Implement simulations and test architectures ranging from purely model-based to hardware-in-the-loop testbed.

  • Technical coordination / management of service providers including PCB manufacturing, assembly, and test

  • Create, manage, and maintain product documentation and performance budgets (power, mass, interfaces, etc)

  • Compile and report unit compliance with technical specifications and design guidelines for avionics hardware and software components

The Must-Haves:

  • 3+ years of experience in one or more of:

    • Consumer electronics design

    • Spacecraft avionics build and test

    • Space systems integration & test

    • Electronics design for robotics

  • Practical hardware development, integration, and test experience

Software - Flight Software

The Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with hardware engineers to develop drivers for components (sensors and actuators) as they are integrated into the spacecraft

  • Architect supervisory software on-device to coordinate mission activities

  • Derive requirements for system performance and validation, develop and execute test plans for hardware checkout and software integration

  • Architect and develop embedded and support software for mission simulation and hardware-in-the-loop testing

The Must-Haves:

  • 5+ years of experience professionally writing software, in resource-limited embedded systems, in one or more fields similar to:

    • Remotely-managed hardware

    • Space systems

    • Robotics

    • Avionics

  • Strong command of C in embedded contexts

  • Product development and rigorous test experience

  • Ability to work independently and self-manage

The Nice-to-Haves:

  • Space mission experience

  • High-reliability and/or fault-tolerant design experience

  • Experience with the STM32 family of Cortex microcontrollers and ChibiOS

Chief Technology Officer

Responsibilities

Lead the implementation of the long-term technical vision of our organisation, while providing hands-on support and guidance to the technical team, overseeing budgets, strategy, growth, and partnerships.

  • Technical Direction: Oversee and provide hands-on support for the research & development of ISRU robotics (with focus on water mining), in-space construction, manufacturing, and human life support development.

  • Operations & Organisation: Collaboratively plan and direct all aspects of engineering activities and projects within the Company, including goal setting, budgets and schedule. Report directly to Board members.

  • Strategy & Partnerships: Develop and lead a technical partnership strategy which provides coherence, consistency and collaborative character to our technical partnerships

  • Employee Success: Support technical staff development, team cohesion towards the vision & technical recruiting as needed.

The Must-Haves:

  • 15 years + experience leading complex space missions and organisational support systems

  • Ability to understand and manage compliance requirements

  • Experience scaling technical teams

  • US Person (citizen or permanent resident)

  • Previously worked closely with founders in a startup

  • Gained Master’s or PhD in physics, engineering, aerospace, or other relevant fields
